       CMRDI is providing 3D Printing services using the world most advanced

 Laser Based Plastic 3D PrinterFORMIGA P110  (www.eos.info). 

 

    FORMIGA P110  is the state-of-the-art technology machine that is able to print support-less parts from high strength materials like Nylon 12 / Polyamide 12 (EOS PA2200  -  Tensile strength > 48  MPa), Glass Filled Polyamide 12 (EOS PA3200 - > 51 MPa) and others.

 

     Based on the high speed and high accuracy Laser Scanning Technology,  FORMIGA P110  machine can build:

 

 . Ready to use Freeform products up to 200,200,200 mm (bigger parts can be split),

 .  Very accurate products with very thin wall thicknesses,

     METAL ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING (3D PRINTING)     

   

     In 2003, CMRDI established the first dedicated Additive Manufacturing Research Lab in the Middle East  targeting the industrial and medical applications of Metal Additive Manufacturing  (Metal 3D Printing).

 

     CMRDI selected  M3LINEAR metal 3D printing machine (www.concept-laser.de) because of the higher quality of products, ease of use and open software that can accept to add new materials and applications.

 

    M3LINEAR implements the technology of Selective Laser Melting (SLM) on powder bed fusion through which the high speed laser beam selectively melt and join the very fine Metal Powder layers until the full products are built from down to up.  Currently, M3LINEAR in CMRDI has 200 watt fiber laser and faster scanning up to 800 m/min.

 

       At the 0.3 mm focus spot of the 200 watt laser beam, the melting temperature exceeds 1800 C. That is sufficient to melt and diffuse almost every metal.  M3LINEAR in CMRDI has the capabilities to build parts from the fine powders of all Stainless Steel alloys, Hard Steel alloys, Titanium based alloys, Nickel based alloys and others.  Any materials can be suitable for Metal 3D printing in case that it is atomized as very fine powders (average particle sizes less than  45 microns),

 

The current applications of Metal Additive Manufacturing include:

 

 .  The ability to build high accuracy Medical Prostheses from Titanium based materials,

 .   End user small spare parts without expensive tools or machining works,

 .  Metal products with complex geometry like manifolds,

 .  Mold inserts with embedded conformal cooling channels,

    2D & 3D LASER MATERIALS CUTTING AND WELDING    

 

 

   

 

           The Technology of Laser Materials Processing was introduced to CMRDI since the year 2000, through Japanese Egyptian International Cooperation Project (funded The Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA). This project was aiming at transferring the Laser technology from Japan to Egyptian industries.  Within the project activities, Japanese Laser Experts stayed in CMRDI for 4 years and trained CMRDI staff on the Laser Technology, besides, CMRDI staff has been trained in Japan as well.

 

Currently, CMRDI has wide experience in all aspects of Laser Materials Processing;  2D and 3D Laser Cutting, Laser Welding, Laser Cladding and Laser surface treatment,

 

2D and 3D Laser Cutting: where large parts of sheet metals (up to 6 mm thickness) can be cut and trimmed using 2D or 3D profiles.

 

For the 3D Cutting, CMRDI has two advanced laser systems, from the best German laser manufacturers; ROFIN DY022  (www.rofin.de and TruDisk 3000  (www.trumpf.com).  Both machines are linked with 6 axes Motoman UP20 Robot  (www.motoman.com for large 3D cutting and 5 axes CNC machining system.

 

Using the above facilities, very complicated 3D shapes can be formed by laser.

 

.Laser Welding: where high temperature laser beam can be used to melt and join two very adjacent metal services to weld them with or without welding fillers,

 

Laser Surface Cladding: where metals powders are injected jointly with the laser beam from one nozzle on a substrate surface.  The laser melts the powders or the substrate surface allowing the diffusion of both the injected metal over the base surface.  This process is important for adding layer of metals over parts, repair worn parts, adds protective surfaces, etc.

 

The Laser Cladding system is available in CMRDI with wide variety of applications.

        3D SCANNING,  CMM and SOLID MODELING (CAD)      

 

 

Solid Modeling is the core for any industrial activities.  Nothing is more important that examining your products on the computer screen before sending them to the manufacturing lines, especially 3D Printing or CNC machining.

 

3D-Scanning is the technology of transferring the geometry points of the in-hand product surfaces to the computer screen, where they can be (1) Edited, (2) Improved, (3) Updated to new products, (4) etc.,

 

For 3D surface scanning, CMRDI has three different systems;  IO-Inspect CMM machine (www.zeiss.de) with automatic scanning and CMM features,  Cyclone II (www.reinshaw.com)   with both laser and mechanical 3D surface scanning probes  and the small size laser based PICSA machine (www.roland.com). 

 

3D Scanning systems are implemented in CMRDI - jointly with the state-of-the-art CAD software like Siemens’ NX, Solid Works, AutoCAD, ArtCAM, Geomagics and others – to build high accuracy CAD and Solid files ready for 3D Printing or CNC machining,

 

CMRDI is providing the technical services of 3D Scanning and Solid Modeling to all the industrial companies in Egypt and the Middle East.  Combined with the facilities of 3D printing and CNC machining in CMRDI, full new products can be reversely cloned from worn parts or old products.

 

In addition, CMRDI can provide materials evaluation and characterization for every type of metals and plastics.

   5 AXES SWISS TYPE MACHINING (TURNING & MILLING)   

 

     

 

CMRDI has the facility to produce very fine turning and milling products with the 5 axis Swiss Type Lathe Machine:  Diamond CS20  (www.polygim.tw).

 

This machine is a unique CNC machine in Egypt – available only in CMRDI - that manufactures very accurate and small parts with diameters from 1 mm to 20 mm using 5 axes systems (both Turning and Milling).

 

High accuracy and high speed production rates (24 hours work shifts) are available.

     EDM Wire CUT FOR THICK METALS     

 

 

Electrical Discharge Machining by Wire (EDM wire), sometimes colloquially also referred to as spark machining, spark eroding, burning, wire burning or wire erosion, is a manufacturing process whereby a desired shape is obtained by using electrical discharges (sparks). 

 

Material is removed from the workpiece by a series of rapidly recurring current discharges between two electrodes, separated by a dielectric liquid and subject to an electric voltage.  One of the electrodes is called the tool-electrode, or simply the "tool" or "electrode", while the other is called the workpiece-electrode, or "workpiece". The process depends upon the tool and workpiece not making actual contact.

 

CMRDI is providing EDM wirecut services using UltraCut F1 machine (www.electronicagroup.com) that can shape blocks of metals at sizes up to 600x600x300 mmBased on the AutoCAD 2D profile, the very fine copper wire (0.25 mm) shapes very accurate gears, die core and cavities, metal frames, etc.

 

.   All metal blocks can be shaped with EDM Wire Cut,

.   Thick materials up to 300 mm can be shaped,

.   Heat Affected Zone is very small due to the very small diameter of the cutting wire,

.  Very accurate cut profiles due to the fully automated process,

.   Very fine cutting kerf due to the fine diameter (0.25 mm) of the cutting wire,

     MACHINE FOR PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDING     

 

   

 

CMRDI has industrial plastic injection molding machine with the following specifications:

 

Clamping power = 200 Tons, Shot size = 400 gm,  Maximum mold size = 450 x 450 mm, Automatic mixer and Chiller for cooling the mold.

 

CMRDI has the capabilities to provide Plastic Injection services at 3 working shifts, 24 hours and day by day delivery to client site.

 

The services can be provided to any industrial company or individuals,
